These pictures were taken August 31, 2008 on my second asent of the Mt. Whitney trail above Lone Pine, California. If you visited my first set of Mt. Whitney pictures a few of these pictures might look familiar.

On the my August 9th hike up the trail I made it to Trail Camp at an elevation of 12,100 feet before wimping out and turning around.

On this hike I made it to Trail Crest, elevation 13,700 feet, before wimping out.

I didn't make it to the summit of Mt. Whitney, but I did get to use 2 of the "Personal Waste Disposal" zip lock bags. It's kind of a bag inside of a bag for pooping into. Why poop into a bag? Because nothing can be left in the Mt Whitney Zone. Everything taken into the zone most be packed out, even poop. So, twice I stopped in the middle of the trail, pulled down my pants, and pooped into a bag. The first was on the switch-backs above Trail Camp, elevation 12,500 feet and the second on my way down at 11,360 feet.

You may be asking, "Why in the middle of the trail?" Because, one side of the trail is straight up and other is straight down. There are no trees and no where to hide. I didn't get pictures because both of my hands were busy holding up the "bag" and no one walking past would do it for me.
